Over 1,000 UALR Students Register For Use of UALRsource.org website
LITTLE ROCK, AR (June 7, 2005) –Over 1,000 students have registered for use of UALRsource.org an online community for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s campus.
The website, which allows students to buy, sell and trade their text books to each other rather than using the campus bookstore, also includes features such as teacher reviews and event calendars.
“The basis of this site came about when I went to UALR's campus bookstore and was offered $9 for a book I paid $75 for. I said to myself, ‘there must be another student that needs this book that doesn't want to pay $75.’ So I thought, ‘what if there were a site that students simply left their contact information and the book that they wanted to sell... Then if someone wanted the book they could simply call or email them.’” Said UALRsource.org founder, RJ Martino.
With new students entering the university each semester, user registration has been on the rise. The site and features are free for the students and funding comes directly from online advertisers. The UALRsource.org team is currently seeking additional advertisers to continue to freely offer the site to its users.
UALRsource.org is a website developed and maintained by UALR graduated founded iProv, LLC, a Little Rock-based application development company.
“We are thrilled with the success that UALRsource has had. It’s not any kind of a gimmick. I was a student once and I was just as tired of bookstore rates as the next guy. That’s why we started this site,” said iProv Project Manager, RJ Martino.
